Sambamurthy, a Chartered Accountant with over 40 years of professional experience in banking, banking technology, and electronic payment-related organizations, is a well-known figure in the digital and banking domains.

Prominent Positions Held :

• Chairman — NPCI—(National Payment Corporation of India). Also Director as RBI Nominee.
• Director and CEO of IDRBT till 2014—(Institute of Development and Research in Banking Technology – Established by RBI) which, besides academic activities like Post Graduate and PhD programs, operated Gateway for NEFT/RTGS, National Financial Switch before being hived off organizations like IFFTAS,NPCI.
• Chairman of PSU bank till 2008.
• General Manager and Head of Treasury, International Banking, IT, and New Products, also serving as Chief Manager of the London Branch.
• Served on the boards/governing councils of various companies/organizations including the Data Security Council of India (NASSCOM body), Indian Institute of Banking and Finance, Insurance Information Bureau of India (Established by IRDAI), Bandhan Bank, and Clearing Corporation of India.
• Served on several committees of RBI including Mobile Banking, Financial Inclusion, IT Vision for RBI, Payment Vision of RBI, Export Advisory, and the Standing Committee on Forex Clearing.
• Served as a Member of the Apex Committee of TIFAC (Technology Information and Forecasting Council - GOI) and Committee on Cloud Computing – MIT and DeitY – GOI.
